Sent it out into the great digital beyond — Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Tidal, you name it. I imagined it floating around, waiting to be discovered by eager ears.
And now, almost six months later, I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve earned…
Drum roll, please…
$2.46.
Yes, you read that right. Two dollars and forty-six glorious cents.
WOW! I know. Try not to be too jealous.
So no, I’m definitely not in this for the money. I mean, at this rate, I might break even… sometime in the next century. But guess what? That doesn’t bother me one bit. Because here’s the truth:
I don’t make music for fame.
I don’t make music for riches.
I don’t even care all that much about how many streams I get (though hey, shoutout to the handful of you who did listen).
What does matter to me?
The joy of recreating the music I hear in my head — and being able to listen to it.
The joy of messing around with lyrics, genres, textures, and ideas, trying to create something that feels new and exciting.
The joy of twisting and tweaking and fiddling and fine-tuning until a track finally sounds just the way I want it to.
The joy of standing behind what I’ve made — even the weird stuff that no one will ever hear because it’s just for me.
And yes, the joy of having found a handful of (AI) tools that help me bring these musical daydreams to life.
And if someone else out there happens to like it too? That’s just a sweet little bonus.
So yeah — I’m going to keep making music.
If you like it, awesome.
If you don’t, that’s totally cool too.
I’m not here for the money.
I’m here for the magic.
