Not long after releasing The Late Night Sessions together with AERIALIS K, she has returned with not one, but two completely different albums. While they share the same unmistakable artistic fingerprint, they couldn’t be further apart in mood and atmosphere.
The first release, Cowboys and a Campfire, is exactly what the title promises.
This is an album that transports the listener straight onto the open prairie, where stories are told beneath endless skies and songs drift through the night from a crackling campfire. Rooted firmly in traditional country and Americana, the album embraces familiar musical landscapes without ever sounding like a nostalgic copy. Aerialyn adds her own personality throughout, giving classic themes a fresh and distinctive voice.
Warm acoustic arrangements, heartfelt storytelling and melodies that feel as though they’ve existed forever make Cowboys and a Campfire an album that’s easy to return to again and again.
So light the fire, lean back, and let Aerialyn guide you across the wide-open plains.
If that album represents warmth and comfort, Into Darkness heads confidently in the opposite direction.
Its title offers more than a hint of what’s waiting inside.
The songs are darker, more cinematic and considerably more experimental than those found on Cowboys and a Campfire. While Americana still forms the foundation, Aerialyn stretches the genre in unexpected directions, exploring territory where Southern Gothic, alternative folk, ambient textures and cinematic sound design naturally meet.
Many of the songs begin with sparse, almost haunting arrangements before slowly building into powerful emotional landscapes. The instrumentation is equally adventurous. Didgeridoo, bagpipes, pump organ, bowed saw, jaw harp and a collection of unusual sonic textures are used not as gimmicks, but as carefully chosen colours that deepen the atmosphere of every track.
Trying to describe Into Darkness is almost impossible, but imagine if Tom Waits, Ennio Morricone and New Order had somehow joined forces to compose the soundtrack for Angel Heart. That unlikely combination comes surprisingly close to capturing the mood Aerialyn creates here—dark, mysterious, beautiful and occasionally unsettling.
The result is an album that rewards attentive listening and invites you to discover something new each time you return.
Two albums.
Two completely different worlds.
One artist unafraid to explore both the familiar and the unknown.
Whether you prefer the comforting glow of a campfire beneath the stars or the mysterious pull of forgotten roads leading into the darkness, Aerialyn has created a soundtrack for both journeys.
Both albums are available on Spotify, with releases on many other streaming platforms gradually following.
The only real question is:
Which journey will you begin with?
