Things I Do on Grass – My New Retro-Flavored Album Is Here

I’m in one of those rare, hyper-creative phases right now — the kind where ideas flow faster than I can even capture them.

And suddenly… I’ve assembled a brand-new album in record time.

Well, ok — that’s not entirely true.

Things I Do on Grass

The project actually started sometime during the summer, and the first seeds of inspiration came from diving deep into the sounds, textures, and recording aesthetics of the 1960s.

In an earlier post, Diving Into the Sounds of the ’60s, I explored what makes the music of that decade feel so timeless: warm analog tones, tape saturation, simple but emotionally powerful melodies, and the raw, unpolished character of early studio work. I experimented with prompts, effects, and creative workflows that I wanted to mimic those vintage production methods — and that exploration became the foundation of this new project.

Since then, I’ve had a solid handful of tracks I was genuinely happy with… but something was missing.

Not much — just a subtle something I couldn’t quite put my finger on.

And then, not too long ago, I stumbled across a prompt that hit exactly the mood, color, groove, and emotional fingerprint I’d been searching for.

So I ran several of those “old” songs through it, doing some careful tweaking along the way… and out came one gem after another!

New tracks followed, plus a few genre-bent reworks of some very old ideas that had been collecting dust for quite some time.

Before I knew it, I was sitting on a ridiculous amount of material — way too many tracks for a single album, even though together they created that perfect unified album feel I’d been chasing.

Which meant the hardest part was still ahead: cutting songs.

That is never easy!

But after countless listening sessions and plenty of mental back-and-forth, I finally landed on a selection of 15 tracks that fit the sound and vision like a glove.

They’ll eventually make their way to Spotify, but if you’re curious — or impatient — you can listen to the full thing right now on Suno.ai:

So go ahead — spin the clock back (or should I say the calendar?) about 60 years… and enjoy.

Oh, and don’t forget to turn the volume up! 🔊🎶
