Diving Into the Sounds of the ’60s With New Project

After crafting a distinct sound rooted in the music of the 1980s—drawing from Britpop and Americana—I´m now digging even deeper into musical history.

With the upcoming project Never Supposed to Be, I take a bold(?) step back into the colourful, jangly, and emotionally raw universe of the 1960s.

While the release date remains uncertain, the sonic direction is clear: think British Invasion meets West Coast psychedelia, with a twist of Southern blues and twangy Americana. Inspired by legends like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, CCR, The Byrds and a light sprinkle of The Beach Boys, I´m not borrowing from the past—I´m trying to channel it.

From shimmering guitars and punchy basslines to vintage organs, tambourines, and handclaps, the production captures the lo-fi charm and analog warmth of the era. “I’ve tried to recreate not just the sound, but the vibe of the ‘60s.”

Lyrically, Never Supposed to Be leans into classic themes of love and lost love, staying true to the romantic melancholy that defined much of the decade’s music. The title track, which already has a finished music video, stands out as a strong centerpiece—a modern take on heartbreak, delivered with nostalgic flair.

AI has also played a role in shaping the project, not just as a creative assistant in writing and music production, but also as a sparring partner for inspiration. Yet, the soul of the music remains rooted in the artist’s own mood and musical instincts.

Never Supposed to Be is still in progress, but already it promises to be a lovingly crafted homage to a decade that redefined popular music—and a deeply personal journey through melody, memory, and emotion.

So stay tuned for more good music from AERIALIS K!
