Just a snapshot of what was in my ears, and on my mind. I didn’t think much of it. But then I made another one the next month. And another. And another.
Fast forward to today, and I’ve been making these monthly playlists pretty consistently for nearly nine years. That’s kind of wild when I think about it.
Each playlist is like a time capsule. They hold the moods I was in, the obsessions I had, the phases I went through. Some months are full of mellow, rainy-day tunes. Other months are just banger after banger. There are phases where I was clearly into the soundtrack of my adolescence, you know, like The Smiths, The Teardrop Explodes, Talk Talk, and other UK artists, or the many facets of what’s been called Americana, or whatever great music that caught my ear. It’s all in there.
What started as something for myself—a way to track and organize my listening habits—has turned into this massive archive of (in my totally unbiased opinion) really good music. We’re talking years of curated, deeply personal playlists. And honestly? I’m proud of it.
Until now, I’ve mostly kept this little ritual to myself. But I’ve decided it’s time to share the goods. If you’re into discovering new music, if you’re curious about how someone’s taste evolves over nearly a decade, or if you just want to fall down a rabbit hole of damn fine tracks—you’re more than welcome to dive in.
I’ll be posting the playlists soon. Maybe it’ll inspire someone else to start their own music timeline. Or maybe you’ll just find a new favorite track. Either way, I’m excited to finally open the doors to this growing library of mine.
Stay tuned—and happy listening. 🎧
